The CLDC was established in response to community concern about the unprecedented crackdown on freedom of speech and other civil rights in Australia. We are witnessing an increasing number of requests for support from individuals facing legal attacks for exercising their basic right to oppose injustice.  

A one-off gift will support urgent legal work for people who have faced persecution for speaking out against genocide.

 Your generosity will enable us to respond quickly to emerging cases, fund ground-breaking advocacy, and run education programs that empower communities to defend our fundamental rights.

 A one-off gift will support:

• The establishment of a national legal advice line and referral hub to provide immediate legal assistance for individuals facing legal attacks  

• CLDC’s direct legal services, including representation in public interest cases that aim to set important precedents protecting freedom of speech and other civil rights

• Educational outreach, resources, and workshops that build awareness and resilience in vulnerable communities

• Advocacy to protect freedom of speech and other civil rights
